1. What Are High Voltage LED Strip Lights?
High voltage LED strip light is composed of an FPC circuit board, led chip, PVC particles, and copper wire. We can divide LED strip lights into two categories according to the voltage – High Voltage LED strip lights, and Low Voltage LED strip lights.
High voltage LED strip lights are powered by high Voltage and use alternate currents(AC). The Voltage used in high Voltage LED strip lights are 110V, 120V, 220V, 240 V, etc. High voltage LED strip lights to connect resistance and LED chips in series with the voltage from the mainline. This voltage is called the working voltage.

2. How Are High Voltage LED Strip Lights Made?
High voltage LED strip lights are mainly made of Printed Circuit boards (PCB) and PVC plastic using the injection molding method. The PCB board is sandwiched between two conductors. The LED chips are distributed on the printed circuit board. And that is how the LED strip lights are made.

4. The Difference Between Low-Voltage Strip Lights And High-Voltage Strip Lights?
Low and High Voltage LED strip lights to have some significant differences. Such as low voltage strips use Direct current, whereas high voltage strips use Alternate Current (AC). Let’s look at some significant differences between low and high-voltage LED strip lights.
Advantage and Disadvantage
High Voltage LED Strip Lights
When we say high voltage LED strip lights, we refer to 110V/220V LED strip lights, and you can use them simply using a plug. There is no need to use any transformer to connect them. Instead, you will need a plug (inside with a rectifier bridge).
The regular LED model for high voltage LED strip lights is 2835/5050/5730/4040/3014. Besides, high voltage LED strip lights can produce a variety of single color, two-color, RGB color, multi-color, and segment effects.
High voltage LED strip lights to come with lots of advantages, but the two most significant benefits are easy wiring and water resistance. The LED strip lights have a PVC-covered surface which delivers insulation and waterproof capabilities.
The maximum length of high Voltage LED strip lights are 100 meters, and you can illuminate them by simply using a plug directly inserted into a 220V household AC line.

Now let’s look at some of the disadvantages of high voltage LED strip lights. The first problem with them is they are built with thick PVC, and you need to be extra cautious to maintain them.
The second disadvantage is the security. As they use high voltage to light up, they are vulnerable to voltage fluctuations, and the strip can burn in worse-case scenarios. Because of these safety hazards, some projects don’t accept high voltage LED strip lights.
Low Voltage LED Strip Lights
When we talk about low voltage LED strip lights, we refer to 5v,12v, or 24 Volt LED strip lights. Low voltage LED strip lights do not use Alternate Current; they use Direct current or DC to power up. When you use Low voltage LED strip lights in your home, you need a transformer or a power supply. That power supply converts the 220 Volt home AC current into 5,12, or 24 Volt, whichever LED strip you are using.
Standard models for low voltage LED strip lights are 3014/2835/5050/5730/2216/5052/4040. Like High voltage LED strip lights, they also have a variety of single colors, two colors, RGB, RGBW options.

The main strength of low-voltage LED strip lights is used in a wide range of applications, are easy to cut, safe, and provide multiple effects. Low voltage LED strip lights to use a low-voltage power supply which is safer, and you can touch it with your hand.
Transformers of low voltage LED strip lights are short-circuiting protected and have multiple voltage options. You can cut the 12V LED strip light to 2.5 cm, and the minimum width can be 4mm.
One important advantage of low voltage LED strips is that you can flexibly use them in a place where you cannot use high voltage LED strip lights. Such as shelves, counters, cabinets, and other places.
The main disadvantage is the high cost of installation. Another disadvantage is the longest strip can only be 10m -30meters. If the strip is more than 30 meters the voltage drops at the end of the strip.
To overcome this problem and maintain the same voltage you will need a special electrical device named, “shunt.” You need transformers to illuminate LED strip lights. Different LED strip lights demand different power supplies, and the cost of power supplies is different.
Besides, to achieve color strip synchronization, you need specific skills or expert support to set up, which increases the installation cost significantly.
You can use the plug of high voltage LED strip lights to power them up. You can directly connect your high voltage LED strip lights to the 220V or 110V plug.

On the contrary, installing low voltage LED strip lights is a little bit complicated. You will need a power supply or Transformer to connect your low voltage LED strip lights to your home electric connection.
From general perception, the price of Low and High voltage LED strip lights are similar. But you cannot illuminate the LED strip lights by purchasing the strips only.
If you purchase high voltage LED strip lights, you don’t need any additional power supply. You can light up them using the plug only. Furthermore, the plug can light up to 50 meters of high Voltage LED strip lights.
On the other hand, low voltage LED strip lights run by DC power supply. Standard 5050 1 M LED strip lights to need 12 to 14-watt, which means a 1-meter Low voltage LED strip needs a 15V direct current, which is much higher than high-voltage LED strip lights.
And, if we add the cost of the transformer, then the cost increases more. As a result, though the price of both LED strip lights is similar, low voltage LED strip lights are more costly in terms of power usage and additional devices.
The packaging of high voltage and low voltage LED strip lights are also very different. The roll of high voltage LED strip lights are generally 50 to 100 meters long, and you get one roll, one canton.
Low voltage LED strip lights, on the other hand, come with 5 to 10 meters per box, 20pcs-50pcs in one canton.

Different Cutting Length
Low voltage LED strip lights to have a cutting mark on the surface. You will find a scissor mark on each small section of low voltage strips.
For example, you will find six cutting points in the 24V LED strip lights, and the typical length of each section is 10 cm. In the 12V strip, there are 3 cutting points at about 5 cm.
High voltage LED strip lights to have a 1 and 2 m cut. Some latest high voltage LED strip lights to have a 10cm min-cut. You can cut every blank part as shown in the picture.

Application Scenarios Vary
Low voltage LED strip lights are easy to use and come with 3M backing. Therefore, they are convenient to use in indoor projects such as cabinets, shelves, counter lighting, a wardrobe, or a bedroom. You can also use low voltage LED strip lights outdoors as boats, pathways, architecture lighting, recreational vehicle lighting, etc.
High voltage LED strip lights to use 220V current and have potential danger if anybody touches the strip wire. As a result, High voltage LED strip lights are used in high positions, out of reach of people. High voltage LED strip lights are not recommended for pools or other soaking areas.
5. When And Why Choose Low Voltage Or High Voltage Strip Lights?
If your project needs long-run LED strip lights, then low voltage LED strip lights cannot properly do that. Even if they can; the cost will be much higher.
So, how do you choose? If your project is less than 32 feet, you should use 12V LED strip lights; for 32 ft to 100 ft, you can use 24 volts, and for over 100 feet, you should use 110V.
6. What Are The Differences Between High Voltage SMD5050 And SMD2835?
SMD5050 and SMD2835 both models are both widely popular LED strips. Both are excellent for lighting up your entire project and have their unique properties.
The dimension of LED chips mounted on SMD2835 is 28mm*35mm*8mm, SMD5050 is 50mm*50mm*15mm.
General LED strip light source is generally SMD5050 and SMD2835, if you want to illumination role, we recommend the SMD5050. If only for decoration, use SMD2835. For example 5050 led strip light is 60led /m, power between 12-14W, the brightness of each meter in about 1000lm.2835 led strip light 60 led/m, its power is only 4.8w/m, about 320LM.
In brief, SMD5050 is best for lighting up large areas such as warehouses, hospitals, airports, etc. And SMD2835 is good enough for home decoration, not too bright and not too dark.

7. What Are The Applications Of High Voltage LED Strip Lights?
High voltage LED strip lights to run on high voltage such as 110V, 220V, etc., and have potential safety hazards. Therefore, the applications of high voltage LED strip lights should be out of reach of people.
Therefore, high voltage LED strip lights are used to concentrate outdoors, decorative lighting, and home ceilings. It is very risky to use these lights for functional lighting.
8. What Are IP Ratings For High Voltage LED Strip Lights?
IP Rating means how much protection the high voltage LED strip light will provide from water and dust. There are various types of IP ratings such as IP65.
IP 65 will protect the strips from partial water connection but you can not submerge IP65 rated strips under the water because they cannot protect water from entering for a long time.

9. Can High Voltage Led Strip Lights Dimmer?
Yes, you can use a dimmer for high voltage LED strip lights.
High voltage LED strip lights are cost-effective and you can install them easily. However, there are some safety issues but you can overcome them by taking proper security measures.
